Today supposed to do sea water luring but in end was dragged into another fresh water luring at Spot higher 2 because of our “baby fighter” Louis wanted to give a try there.
Louis is a 11 years old boy who was "piosoned" by one of our kaki who passed his rod to Louis after he noticed his bait was taken up, the line on the spool was almost peeled empty by the fish. Louis being a first timer, we all agreed not to help him and let him to battle the fish alone. We all know the fish is bullying him when we heard the screaming drag sound and saw the bending rod, he was totally lost and do not know what to do. All of us will cheering him and his dad Nelson went over to give him instructions on the drag srtting and rod holding position. After a while he kept saying in Mandarin " bu ke yi le, bu ke yi le, bu ke yile". We have a good laugh at his hilarous actions and after 15 minutes he was totally worn out but some how he still managed to land the 5kg giant snakehead. He became our youngest member and few months later he reached another milstone by hooking up caught a 3.2 kg marine catfish at sembawang sea on our boat.He also hooked up a 2.5 kg GT at Kyoto fishing paradise pay pond and won a 20 dollars voucher. We are training him to be a catch and release anglers and the future of sport fishing will lay on them
Today the catch rate was poor only a few juvenile and baby Temensis caught this is mainly due to “baiters and tapaoers” we saw 3 baiters coming in with black colour “L” size trash bags and we all know that this ground is gone for good. The authority should stop them by implementing license fishing to control this. They should review the size and location of their legal fishing ground. I believed all the legal fishing grounds are can only accommodate a small percentage of sports anglers in our homeland and these designated grounds are mostly located next to canoeing ground where the steel cables use to form the canoe lane will cross over to the legal fishing ground this had become an obstacle for us. To stop people from illegal fishing we must create enough facilities for them, most anglers do not want to go against our laws. The temensis in our country is well known to anglers from other country, if the authority knew how to capitalize it this can turn into a million dollars industries and this enable them to have the fund to setup a branch for license fishing. Anyway this is my dream to see it come true but the authority may face some other issue that I do not foresee it.
I realized that one of our kaki who is on the midst of turning into a baiter and tapaoer again, I would like to warn him if he do that he will be executed by us and the execution will be stinking him with live catfish since he mentioned catfish is a good bait for gaint snakehead, LOL.I hope I can "treat" him because he turn into a baiter again. This trip Louis managed to hook up one temensis by using our favourite Yo zuri crystal minnow GHBR 70 mm lure.
The distance through and fro from our fishing ground is 3 km and walking through the rough forest terrain is not an easy task for adult like us but no complaint from this boy. “Well done Lou” Regardless young or old, fishing is passion game for man and sometimes women too.
This week we are going to try some new spot recommend and hopefully this trip we can encounter some monster fighters to give us a good work out.
