A wonderful birthday present for me - 11 pounds Temensis papa

Went a famous spot for Toman as their season is around the corner however they are not ready to take our lure. Robin, Alan and Nelson missed a few biggies ans a big fat zero for me. With Nelson ended his session earlier but another Bro Derrick came to join us. After having our lunch we moved on to another spot after getting some info from another friend that this spot is still productive.
After 15 minutes into our second session it looks like I have to shallow the big fat egg. When I moved to the last frontier. When I make ny fourth cast, I felt a big tug on my lure immediately I set my hook twice and the line on my certate 2500 reel atarted peel out like no tomorrow. I started to shout at Derrick who was about 20 metre away from me. I pul it in but only managed to overcome this biggie on the third attempt just before Derrick, Alan and Robin arrived. Photo takem and fish was relased back into with help of my bros. Thanks to you all for the great assistance, I also like to specially thanks Alan who generouslly sharing his luring knowledge & experience.

Biggies are back at Spot higher one

At 5.40 am recieved a call and a sms from Nelson and Alan, both were bad news that their place have started to rain and I was like " siao liao" s to "cheong" or not to "cheong". Just after a short while, rain started to pour so after sending my OC to work I decided to sleep for a while and hope the rain will stopped by then.
At 8.20 pm I was woke up by the "ah ah ah"sound made by the crows and I know the rain is stopping very soon, immediately call Nelson to check the weather forcast over his area and we agreed to meet up at our first spot.
While we were casting inside the forest I saw the patrol boat and quickly alerted Nelson to take cover. After the boat left we continued to cast again. After a short while I decided to split up with Nelson and moved to another area. Here I got the first fish of the day after my third casts, before I could made my fourth cast I recieved Nelson's call that he got a 8.5 pounds Toman and I have to run back into the forest to help me to take photo before we released it back into the water. He told me that this killer bite half of the Temensis that hooked on to his lure, it got hooked when it turned back to take the other half of the Temensis.
Next come my turn when i hooked on a temensis,I saw it's 2 bigger brother and sister chasing it and trying to steal the lure. I leave the hooked fish in the water until the bigger one dashed towards it to grab the lure I set it firmly a few times and also dropped the smaller. The fight is on and I have a hard time to land this fella because I left my lip grip in my car. I called Nelson to help but he told me that he just saw a vehicle drove past and I have to quickly carry the fish to run into the forest again. This fish wait 8 pounds on the digital scales, after this I got another about the same size but it managed to escape after I took the hook out from his mouth and lastly I got another medium size fish weighed about 5 pounds.
Later we went for lunch and meet up with Alan, Robin, Chee Yong and a new Kaki Mr Derrick Ho. When we reached spot higher2 we discovered that the water was very low and saw a mama Toman with frys but she was not interested with our lure. Only Robin managed to land 1 small Temensis so we decided to bash into the deep forest and finally we come to a spot where everyone is able to land a few Temensis except me. Nelson managed to hooked up a 6 pounder there. Soon when the sky start to turn dark and we decided to call it a day.
After today's trip I feel upset because we have to hide our selves to avoid being caught by the regulatories for a healthy spot.

Lucky Day 2

Went to spot higher 2 on Sunday morning and the meeting time was 6.15am. When I was half towards the destination, rain drop started to fall but I am still optimistic that it will stop very soon. As I was driving closer to the destination the rain get heavier and I have to slow down my speed because of my poor eyesight. Finally reached the car park, after discussed with the team and we decided to carry on.
Along the way the rain get even heavier and we had to put on our rain coat.
Once we reached our spot we start to cast out our lure and on my third cast I hit a 3 pounds Temensis and the feeding frenzy started with everyone start to hook up and nobody bother around the rain anymore. Jasper one of the biggest catch, a 6 pounds temensis but nobody is willing to sacrifice the hand phone camera and in the end no photo was taken. We saw a few big one but did not take our lure until the end when Alan make his final cast a biggie took his lure but when he almost pull the fish to the edge this fella got away. I lost count at my Number 15 fishes and we make a conservative estimation, there should be a least 100 fishes caught with Jasper got the biggest and the most (30 fishes), the rest of us is an average of 20 fishes. The average sizes of the fishes were 1 pound to 2.5 pounds and pertaining to the size of fishes today they were all very strong. I noticed that the water below was warm and maybe that is the reason the fishes are very active today. All of us were very happy with the result and I also broke my “bai ban” after 2 weeks zero catch. On our out, a tree fell onto the road and we have to stop to remove the fallen tree and thanks to those people who help us.

Lucky day 1

Meet up with Nelson at Spot upper 1 in the early morning and quickly we moved into the forested area.
Our dear Nelson hit a 9 pounds Toman with his storm popper lure. He saw some splashes on the water, zero his rod and cast out his storm popper towards it and the popper land directly into the mouth of the fish. With both treble hooking onto each side of the mouth, the fish doesn’t seem to be active and the fight ended shortly. As we continued to work on our lure, I saw a boat some distance away from us and quickly alert Nelson to leave. When this lucky man was retrieve his line another whopper took his lure by surprise but this time round he got no choice has to force himself to get loose of the fish to avoid being caught by the authority. It is a very sad thing to be a Singapore sport fisherman, we have to play hide and seek to prevent being caught by the authority for a healthy sport.
After we had our roti prata breakfast, we move to spot 2 at Mandai and this "fu xing" caught a 5 pounds Temensis and this fish was " tapao" but not for us. We gave it to a 70 years old uncle who is working as a gardener there and asked whether we can give him the fish. From his look We believed that he is still struggle to put his 3 meals on to the table and we felt sorry for him. I feel very down and question myself “Is our society taking care of the elderly citizen?” I don't think this is healthy.
Nelson got another hit by a monster but lost as the hook wasn’t set and after this we decided to called it a day as we have another trip next day with Guru, Edmund and Jasper.
Here is the picture of the two fishes he caught

Experience, skill plus strategy = 9 pounds temensis

A 9 pounds temensis caught by Guru Alan at Mandai
While he was waiting for us, he saw a shoal of bait fish attacked by predatory fish. While He scan through the surface, he saw a shadow on the the flowing water and suspect is a Toman. He cast out a pencil lure about 3 meters away from the shadow. He start to work his lure and just before the lure reached the shadow and he could see the fish was enticed by the actions of his lure. The fish started to chase his lure and as it get closer the predator dashed towards and whacked down his pencil. The battle between man & fish begin and this round the victory goes to the Guru. ( most of the time he is the winner)
